Working with Children & Adolescents
Children and adolescents often experience emotional distress in ways that can be difficult to express directly, including anxiety, sadness, behavioral challenges, difficulties at school, or struggles with peers and family relationships. These difficulties may emerge during developmental transitions, family stress, or other experiences that feel overwhelming or confusing.
With younger children, I often use play therapy, a developmentally appropriate approach that allows children to express feelings and experiences through play while helping us better understand their inner world. With older children and adolescents, therapy takes a more talk-based approach, integrating emotional exploration, supportive conversation, and practical coping strategies to build insight, resilience, and healthier ways of navigating challenges.
I work collaboratively with parents and caregivers throughout treatment to deepen understanding of a child’s emotional needs and support meaningful change within the family system.
